FEBRUARY: 2020 TRUCK OF THE YEAR ENTRANTS
DARRYL MOORE ELECTRICAL
Darryl Moore of Darryl Moore Electrical couldn’t praise his Isuzu NLR 45-150 Servicepack X more, and not just for the NLR’s role in helping him get to his customers. With the capacity to carry all the tools and equipment he needs to provide electrical solutions to the Melbourne metro region, the NLR is indispensable to Darryl and his business. In Darryl’s words, “It’s a thing of beauty, from the shape of the body to the sign writing. It stands out. People ring me as I’m driving just to ask about the truck, and I always pull over and let them have a look.” And according to Darryl, the Servicepack X is a pleasure to drive, what with the comfort of the driver’s seat and the smoothness of the Isuzu’s AMT.
SIGNLIME GROUP
Anyone would be lime green with envy looking at the sleek wrap on this Isuzu NPR 45-155 Tradepack, serving as a dynamic, walking billboard for Signlime. According to Zeke Price of Signlime, their Ready-to-Work NPR Tradepack is the perfect mobile workshop with more than enough space for everything they need for any installation work, helping them bring their sign design and installation service to their customers. But it’s not only that which Zeke loves about his truck—he loves all the extras his truck’s got: the genuine Isuzu bullbar, Isuzu satnav, tow bar, and Isuzu’s automated manual transmission (AMT).
GSR AUTO TEK
Jason Johnstone at GSR Auto Tek has some big plans for this 1990 FSR 500 (FSR 120-260). As the third owner of this well-loved truck, Jason plans on restoring the truck for his business in Newcastle, NSW, which will use the truck to help provide automotive repair services. The truck comes with great local history in that area, previously owned and used by Newcastle Fresh Produce. This just goes to show the resilience and durability of Isuzu trucks through the ages.
THE BEMBOKA BELLETT BLOKE
This 1978 Isuzu ELF KS21 (N Series) is another oldie in the Truck of the Year race, bringing back the nostalgia and truly showing the longevity of Isuzu’s trucks! This ELF truck features the old Isuzu badge, which came before the current silver Isuzu badge. This 1978 truck is still going strong, working for the Bemboka Bellett Bloke, Gary Smith, in Bemboka, NSW, with its tilt tray, picking up old Isuzu vehicles. A collector of fine things is what Gary is.
JDM
This firey-red FYJ 300-350, nicknamed the ‘Husky Hauler’, is everything Scott Clark of JDM needs to haul truckloads of cement to job sites, and more. Scott said, “In a fleet of other larger trucks, the Isuzu stands out, comfortably handling the loads and kilometres.” Not only does the FYJ hold its own against others, the truck’s comfortable and Scott loves the visibility out of the cab.
TINDAL ROOFING
This NPR 200 (NPR 45-155) is a dream to Rowan Tindal of Tindal Roofing. For the seamless operation of their business, the Tindal Roofing team needs their tools and equipment wherever they go, especially in regional areas—and their reliable NPR gets them there, helping customers with their roofing needs. According to Rowan, their NPR has never let them down—it’s always fully loaded, but the truck never complains and runs like… you got it, an absolute dream.
RV MOBILE TRUCK AND TRAILER REPAIRS
Working hard for Reg Maybir at RV Mobile Truck and Trailer Repairs, this FRD 110-260 runs far and wide, doing long drives state-wide to attend to repair jobs. The FRD not only gets Reg and the equipment to their customers, but is also smooth and comfortable, especially on these long-haul trips and, according to Reg, performs “exceptionally well”. With its added range of accessories, such as the shiny chrome alloy wheels and custom-built service body, Reg is one happy man.
ALYSSA LALOR TRADING TRUST
This FYJ 300-350 is a real diamond, serving as a concrete agitator truck for Anthony Demicoli at Alyssa Lalor Trading Trust. Ticking all the right boxes to get the job done—bringing concrete to work sites reliably and efficiently—and with spotless good looks to match, Anthony loves the FYJ’s superior comfort and its ability to comfortably manoeuvre tight and tricky job sites.
