[image_gallery][/image_gallery] Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the 11th annual Bike 4 Burns charity bike ride, being held from June 8 to 13 in North Queensland. IAL has been Bike 4 Burns’ platinum sponsor since the event’s inception, and is looking forward to again backing the ride that has raised over $530,000 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation. The money the journey generates funds research and the development of technology used to treat young burn victims. This year’s trek will see Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) personnel strap on their helmets and pedal a 560km scenic route from Townsville to Cairns. Intrepid riders will be fueled by the unfortunate statistic that, almost every day in Queensland, one child aged four or under will be taken to hospital by ambulance after experiencing a burn. IAL’s Queensland Dealer Sales Manager Chris Musch said Isuzu is honoured to continue its role helping to fund the vital work being carried out in hospital burns units. Mr Musch, who has joined the Bike 4 Burns peloton for the final leg of previous rides, said switching from trucks to bicycles was a bit of a shock, but nothing compared what some of the brave youngsters in burn units are up against. “The finish line of one of the rides I did was the Lady Cilento Hospital,” Mr Musch said. “After the ride we got a tour of the kids’ burns department. And that was rather scary, you see what the nurses and doctors have to do and what these children have to go through, and it’s rather chilling. “It makes you realise how important it is to get behind events like Bike 4 Burns.” The Bike 4 Burns sponsorship is a product of the strong working relationship IAL shares with the QFES. Isuzu is the QFES’ first choice when it comes to trucks, and their vehicles have been helping keep the sunshine state’s firefighters safe for years. Bike 4 Burns 2017 commences in Townsville and will track a 560 km route through Ingham, Tully, Millaa Millaa and Mareeba, before heading over to Port Douglas and finishing in Cairns.
