Australian Waste & Recycling Expo Fresh from the Australian Waste & Recycling Expo (AWRE17), held at the Melbourne Convention Centre from August 23-24, Isuzu Trucks report that the centrepiece of their display – the FSR 850 Dual Control – garnered strong interest. Exhibiting to over 1,500 industry professionals from across the globe the 14,000 kg GVM truck, with 176 kW @ 2,400 rpm and 706 Nm @ 1,450 rpm, impressed those in the waste industry looking for a vehicle that could deliver on fuel efficiency and power. AFAC17 showcases the latest firefighting technology For many parts of Australia, the moment winter ceases, bushfire season begins. As the weather becomes warmer and Australia’s pervasive fire threat rears its ugly head, AFAC’s annual conference reminds us of the tireless work of our emergency services personnel. Over 2,500 emergency management professionals attended this year’s Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authority Council conference, AFAC17, as the three-day show – held between September 4-7 – returned to Sydney. Hosted at the International Convention Centre in the heart of Darling Harbour, the conference included more than 160 exhibitors, two of which were Isuzu Trucks and Isuzu Engines. A particular favourite at the show was an Isuzu mobile fire-fighting truck with a Compressed Air Foam (CAF) system attached, which was powered by an Isuzu off-highway engine. This star attraction has been engineered by the New South Wales Rural Fire Services (NSW RFS) in collaboration with Isuzu and Isuzu Engines, and is used by the NSW RFS to combat bushfires. IAL National Sales Manager, Les Spaltman, said he was proud of IAL’s involvement with Australian fire services, and that AFAC was a very important event for Isuzu. “IAL supplies trucks to every state and territory’s fire services and that’s something we’re extremely proud of,” Mr Spaltman said. “AFAC is one of the most important events on the Isuzu calendar and a great opportunity to showcase our commitment to providing reliable equipment to a crucial industry. “We’ve been supporting this integral event for emergency services for over nine years now and look forward to our continuing association in the years ahead.” Isuzu Engines Field Days In other event related news, Isuzu Engines have a busy second half of 2017 with a number of Field Days lined up. Between September 19-21 Isuzu Engines were at Henty Field Days – one of the nation's pre-eminent agricultural events – showcasing a raft of their renowned off-highway engines in two, three, four and six-cylinder models. And not far away will be Elmore Field Days, being held between October 3-5 close to the Campaspe River, north-east of Bendigo. The town’s population is expected to swell to the 45,000 mark, and Isuzu Engines will be amongst the throng in Elmore, once more advising customers on off-highway engine applications.
