Following the recent rebranding of Isuzu Australia Limited’s (IAL) engines department as Isuzu Power Solutions (IPS), an IPS dealership training program was held at IAL’s Training Centre in Truganina, Victoria, on 30 May 2019.

The training objectives encompassed introduction to current IPS offerings, training in the applications of the power units, engineering and product updates, and further exposure to IPS’s Diesel Inquiry Assessment System (DIAS). Product training and updates The IPS dealer training program included an engine specification and accessories session, highlighting engineering updates and new product releases. IPS dealers were brought up to date on exciting engineering projects, including updates to the open generator sets (GenSets). The 4LE1-TYGV01 open GenSet was demonstrated, and design improvements of IPS power units were showcased. Dealers also had the chance to inspect the GenSets in detail, checking out the purpose-built generators at the IAL Training Centre. The 3G/4G remote monitoring and control systems were also demonstrated. Adrian Speck from Peel Valley Isuzu said it was eye-opening to see the IPS production and engineering capabilities in person, and how IPS products are built for Australian standards and conditions. “The training was comprehensive, and our staff really benefited from seeing the products in action at the Training Centre. “It was also a great opportunity for us to ask questions about the engines and what we can expect, product-wise, from IPS in the future,” said Mr Speck. Will Metcalf, Parts Manager at Ballarat Isuzu, said the IPS dealer training is not only a great way to learn more about IPS power units, but also provides a valued opportunity to connect with other dealers. Mr Metcalf commented, “The training program was invaluable with regard to increasing product knowledge; we learnt a lot from the presentations and the practical application sessions.” Through a series of questions on the customer’s needs, working environment and required application, DIAS is an assessment tool designed to assist in matching customers with the ideal power unit. The first part of the training ran through operation of the system, with a focus on customer experience, including quotes and selecting the right power solution. The second part of the training covered access to the DIAS Engine and Accessories Library, and the Assemble-to-Order user experience—where users can customise accessories and auxiliary products for their power unit choice. Mr Metcalf said, “The training program was an excellent platform to learn more about how we can match our customers with the perfect power unit. “The training also enhanced our understanding of the DIAS platform, which helps us serve customers more effectively.” OEM information IPS also conducted an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) information session, as well as a session expounding on market and target sales information. These sessions included new product updates and upcoming launches. Participation and upcoming plans The IPS dealer training program was attended by staff from prominent dealers.
