The top technicians from Isuzu Australia Limited’s (IAL) Dealer Network have gone head to head with the some of the world’s sharpest mechanical minds to earn a bronze medal at the annual Isuzu World Technical Competition, also known as the I-1 Grand Prix.  The team of Jake Quick from Ballarat Isuzu and Drew Murden from Peel Valley Isuzu, coached by IAL’s Queensland Service Technical Manager Brenton Cook, achieved the podium finish in Fujisawa, Japan, at the 12th annual I-1 GP. The event saw the best Isuzu Truck service technicians in the world challenged in every aspect of their work, from vehicle inspection and systems management diagnostics, to repair tests and mechanical measuring. IAL National Training Manager, David Smith, commended the team for ending up on a podium shared with Japan (Gold) and USA (Silver). “This year, the ante was upped in terms of the level of competition at the Grand Prix, so it’s excellent to see the Australian Isuzu Trucks team finish third and bring home the bronze,” Mr Smith said. “Everyone within Isuzu Australia would like to offer their congratulations to Jake, Drew and Brenton. The trio were excellent representatives of Isuzu Australia and performed fantastically in what was a pressure-cooker situation.” Mr Smith said the team’s third-place finish was a result of the stringent and exacting standards IAL sets for every Isuzu truck being serviced in Australia. “I believe that the IAL team’s result at the I-1 Grand Prix is truly indicative of the calibre of the service technicians throughout the entire Isuzu Dealer Network,” he said. “Isuzu has been Australia’s top-selling truck brand for the last 28 years, not just because the trucks are engineered with reliability and application-focused specifications, but because the dealer network is staffed by technicians who can provide heavy vehicle operators with outstanding levels of peace-of-mind and support. “The team’s I-1 Grand Prix result once again proves that Australian truck customers can buy an Isuzu truck knowing there’s a world-class team of professionals ready to look after them when it’s time for a service.”
