[image_gallery][/image_gallery] The Australian leg of the annual Isuzu World Technical Competition has kicked off with 10 technicians vying for a chance to represent Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) and the Australian Isuzu Truck Dealer Network at the international final in Fujisawa, Japan. Affectionately known as the ‘I-1 Grand Prix,’ the annual competition pits Isuzu truck technicians against each other in a series of tests including mechanical measuring, practical assembly, electrical diagnostics, practical repair tests, vehicle inspection and systems management diagnosis. Entrants must then complete an intensive theoretical exam covering general and Isuzu-specific technical knowledge. The Australian trials were held on, 13 July at IAL Head Office in Melbourne, and saw Matthew Kempnich from Gold Coast Isuzu emerge victorious. Matthew’s win means he and runner up, Ty Jenkins of Westar Truck Centre (last year’s winner) and coach, Isuzu Service Manager for Victoria and Tasmania Jason Leckie, will travel to Fujisawa to compete against Isuzu truck technician teams from all over the globe. IAL National Training Manager, David Smith, said the competition, now in its 11th year, was getting harder and more fiercely contested with every event. “These are some of the best operators in the truck service industry and they’re all performing at the top of their game,” Mr Smith said. “The ‘I-1’ continues to set the bar for mechanical skills challenges worldwide, and Matthew and Ty exemplify the hard work and expertise that the international community has come to expect from IAL and our broader dealer network. “I think it’s also great for our customers to see that the technicians performing their service are world-class, so they know they’ll be extremely well looked after. “Congratulations to Matthew and Ty and good luck in Japan in December!” ends For further information, please contact:           Jeff Birdseye                                                         Marketing Manager                                               Isuzu Australia Limited                                           Phone: 03 9644 6666 For Isuzu Truck releases and photos: Arkajon Communications Phone: 03 9867 5611 Email: isuzu@arkajon.com.au
